Pope Francis Identifies The Antichrist? - Steven Ben-Nun

The Mark and the Number of his Name - Walter Veith

The Beast of Revelation 13 has a number: 666 - Antichrist, Vatican Pope Triple Crown

The Beast of Revelation 13 has a number: 666 - Antichrist, Catholic Pope

Revelation 13:16
"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads."

Revelation 13:17
"And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

Revelation 19:16
"And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Note: that according to verse 17, there are three different characteristics that distinguish the beast:
  1. His mark (of authority)
  2. His name
  3. The number of his name (666)

It might be argued by some that 666 must be applied to one single man's name, and it is this that will then help identify him as the antichrist. However let us remember that Revelation 13:18 says to understand the meaning of the number of this beasts name it will take "understanding" or some knowledge or wisdom concerning this issue. So for this one, we must have a little knowledge of the Greek language to understand it.

I would offer the following verses to show that 666 need not apply solely to a single man's name but to his title. This is because the same Greek word is used in Revelation 13:17-18 and also Revelation 19:16. This would be more exact as a title given for a man or rather used as a name, authority or cause.

This would agree with ‘Strongs’ concordance concerning the Greek word ὄνομα used in these verses.
onoma: a name, authority, cause
Original Word: ὄνομα, ατος, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Definition: Name, character, fame, reputation

"GC3686 ónoma – name; (figuratively) the manifestation or revelation of someone's character, i.e. as distinguishing them from all others."
Source: Strongs Greek Concordance

We also must remember from our definitions list and given in other versus throughout the Bible that a beast represents "Kingdoms" and this is the definition of a beast given to us by the prophet Daniel in Daniel 8:21. Using this formula given to us by Daniel the prophet and John the revelator, we can now try to identify who this beast power might be.

Latin: The official title of the Pope in Latin is VICARIUS FILII DEI = 666

Paul's reference to the man of sin in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

So before Jesus comes back we see that we are waiting for a great falling away and the man of sin will be revealed to us. It also calls him the son of perdition. The son of perdition is used only 2 times in the Bible. One time in this verse and once again concerning Judas the man who betrayed Jesus with a kiss. Judas had presented himself as one of them in order to betray him. So this system will also present itself as such and betray in much the same way. It will outwardly pretend to be serving him but in secret working with his enemies.
